DECEMBER

After a very wet November, the start of December was dry but very cold. Then we had about seven nights of hard frost which turned the countryside where I live very beautiful indeed. From mid December I spent a lot of my time down in Winchester as my daughter had a part-time job. I took this opportunity to explore this lovely historic city, I spent a lot of the time going around the Christmas market and the cathedral. On Christmas Eve I spent a wonderful hour in the cathedral attending the children's nativity service, where carols were sung and children were invited to come along as characters from the nativity scene. There were angels, sheep, donkeys, wise men, cows and lambs, I couldn't get over how many people turned up, the cathedral was packed. Then at the end of the month we had very wet weather which brought fresh flooding to Marsh Benham, the lane near where I live was under water and it was flowing over the road quiet fast, since I lived here I've never seen flooding like this.
